One of our goals for this year is to shoot more personal projects, i.e. things that we don’t get paid to do! These personal projects should be things that inspire us and push us out of our comfort zone. It’s no secret that CrossFit is a big part of Richard’s (and now my) life, so Richard was really excited to document the final Open workout at CrossFit York.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the CrossFit Open happens every year in the early spring. It’s 5 weeks where athletes all around the globe do the same 5 workouts, and the best of the best go on to Regionals, and eventually the CrossFit games. Now, we obviously have no hopes of ever making it to Regionals, but it’s still fun to participate! It’s fun to see how you stack up to everyone at your home box, friends who go to other boxes, as well as all of the other registered athletes out there! Most registered athletes are NOT serious competitors. They’re just doing it for fun and to compete against themselves… just like me and Richard :)
However, there are two AMAZING ladies, Angie and Jackie, at CrossFit York who have a chance to advance to Regionals in the Masters Division! How incredible is that?? The workout is announced on Thursday nights, so everyone at the box decided it would be a fun idea for a Head to Head competition Thursday night, following the announcement, for some of the top competitors! In addition to Angie and Jackie, we were also going to watch 4 of the top men competitors, two youngsters, Scott and Adam, and two masters, Troy and Rusty. It was a 15.5 Throwdown and pretty awesome to watch!
Everyone waiting patiently, anticipating what the final workout is going to be!
15.5 is announced! For time,
27-calorie row, 27 thrusters
21-calorie row, 21 thrusters
15-calorie row, 15 thrusters
9-calorie row, 9 thrusters
This is going to suck. Everyone had the same look on their face…
A little encouragement from spouses goes a long way.
Time to warm up!
Scott vs. Adam
Troy vs. Rusty
Scott was the first one done… by 2 seconds! And now it’s time to assume the post WOD position.
The boys are done and now the girls warm up.
And now for the main attraction… Jackie vs. Angie!!
Both girls killed it! So proud of these ladies!!
