As parents of young children, we watch our babies reach small milestones every day. First smiles, first words, first steps. First time trying a new food, or riding their bike without training wheels, or finally having the courage to jump into the pool unassisted. The list goes on and on and sometimes we forget how important all of these baby steps are to building the courageous, determined and amazing young people they’re becoming — right before our eyes.
Today our baby girl reaches one of the biggest milestones of her life to date — she starts Kindergarten! We’ve talked with so many other parents, all sharing the same fears. Will she be OK? Will she make new friends? Will she get lost wandering the halls at school, or dropped off at the wrong bus stop? Will she be able to keep up or stay challenged? While we share all of these same fears as we send Sophia off into the wild– known as Dallastown School District — what overcomes us more are the feelings of pride, joy and excitement.
Sophia — We are so excited to watch you not only fly, but soar, through school. We are so proud of the truly amazing young lady that stands before us. Sure, you threw a mini temper tantrum about having to get you photo taken, but when you live with the papa-razzi it’s to be expected :-)
Sweet Sophia, you have it all… brains, beauty, a whole lot of sass, and family and friends that love you tremendously. We hope you will continue to ask a thousand questions and never give up on the things you believe in. You are a natural leader — we’ve known this your whole life and everyone who meets you agrees. We hope you take this gift and use it wisely and graciously. Be a good student, a great friend, and an even better person. Act with integrity and please don’t ever be afraid to ask for help.
Keep shining little sunshine.
All of our love,
Mommy + Daddy
With her friend and neighbor, Bella.
